Alan runs the newly formed Specialist Factual Productions team at BBC Studios, setting and leading its creative strategy. Formerly Head of the Documentary Unit, his recent output includes acclaimed shows like Fight The Power: How Hip Hop Changed the World, Inside Our Autistic Minds with Chris Packham, The Boys From Brazil: Rise of the Bolsonaros and Freedom: 50 Years of Pride.

An experienced creative, Alan is a BAFTA, RTS, Grierson and Broadcast Award nominee, running shows across a wide range of genres from history and science to consumer, crime and live. His career highlights include producing the Scottish ceremonial events marking the Queen’s Funeral, re-creating The Italian Job’s mini chase on the streets of Turin, and helping to discover a new planet.
