Helen Perry

Head of Drama, ITV

Helen Perry leads UKTV’s growing slate of acclaimed original dramas with standout hits including the reimagined Bergerac, which has achieved the highest ratings across the UKTV network this year, and Mark Gaitiss’ Bookish, which premiered to widespread critical acclaim and became the second most-watched show on U&alibi ever. Helen’s slate also includes fan-favourite The Marlow Murder Club; Outrageous, based on the lives of the Mitford sisters; Mudtown, a bilingual Welsh-English co-commission with S4C; and I, Jack Wright, a gripping murder mystery family drama from Chris Lang. Recently Helen commissioned Hit Point, UKTV’s first-ever drama for U&Dave, written by BAFTA-winner Howard Overman. 

Prior to UKTV, Helen was a Commissioning Editor for Drama at ITV where she worked on original dramas such as Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Playing Nice, alongside returning series such as DI Ray, Professor T, The Bay and Grantchester.    

Before ITV, Helen was an Assistant Commissioner for BBC Drama working across development and production, and exec-ing Steeltown Murders and The Pact. Prior to that Helen was Script Executive at Bad Wolf on the HBO/BBC drama Industry.  

Helen has also worked as a Development Producer for BBC Writers’ Room and she began her career as an award-winning audio drama producer/director creating original dramas for BBC Radio and BBC Sounds.
