Sarah Asante

Founder & Chief Creative, Asante Space

Sarah Asante is a Creative Consultant specialising in Scripted TV and former Commissioning Editor with nearly 10 years of leadership experience, shaping premium television content across the UK market. 

She launched her consultancy in May 2025 after four years as Scripted Commissioning Editor at UKTV (BBC Studios), where she commissioned distinctive comedy and drama including Meet the Richardsons, Sneakerhead with Big Zuu and Hugo Chegwin, Murder They Hope starring Johnny Vegas and Sian Gibson, and Newark, Newark featuring Mat Horne and Morgana Robinson. 

At UKTV, Sarah spearheaded diverse writer initiatives, commissioning four comedy pilots by emerging diverse voices and helping establish the channel's reputation for bold, original content that resonated with audiences and critics alike. 

Prior to UKTV, Sarah was part of the BBC's multiple award-winning comedy commissioning team, where she commissioned BAFTA-winning sketch show Famalam and the critically acclaimed pilot Dreaming Whilst Black by Adjani Salmon, which went on to international success with A24 and Showtime. She also developed numerous digital-first short form pilots that helped establish new talent in the industry. 

Sarah's career spans over two decades in commissioning across specialist factual, drama and comedy entertainment at Fox International Channels, Channel 4, ITV and Scripps Networks (Travel Channel/Food Network), giving her comprehensive insight into the UK broadcasting landscape. 

A respected industry voice, Sarah is a former BAFTA TV and Learning committee member, served as a long-term consultant for BAFTA Elevate, has produced sessions at Edinburgh TV Festival, and continues as a mentor for Wonder Women.  

She is regularly courted by leading industry institutions including the BFI and NFTS to lead training programmes and masterclasses.
